For narrated YouTube channels: history, true crime, science, business and more

Turn your voiceover into an edited YouTube video

The Cutaway agent matches each line of your narration with a video clip, picture, map or on-screen label, timed to the word it illustrates, and checks every shot before rendering. You review the storyboard, decide on any shots the agent is unsure about, and receive the finished video with captions, chapters and Shorts.

We edit the first 15 minutes of your first video for free. No credit card required. Currently, only English voiceovers are supported.

BENCHMARKS

Edited to the pacing of top documentary channels

Before building Cutaway, we measured how 14 top documentary channels cut their videos. Every storyboard is checked against those benchmarks before it is rendered.

THE AGENT

How the agent works

You do not need to edit a timeline. The agent reports what it has done, brings you only the shots it is unsure about, and makes the changes you describe in plain language.

  • Reports each step: names corrected, pictures found, maps created
  • Asks one question at a time, with the picture it would use instead
  • Accepts instructions such as "replace any modern photos" and shows each shot it changed
The agent asking about a shot and replacing modern photos on request
Quality checks: pacing, cuts on key words, licenses, names and the publish kit
QUALITY CHECKS

Checked before rendering

Pacing, cuts on key words, licenses and spelling are checked at the storyboard stage, so problems are fixed before the draft is rendered.

  • Pacing and cut points compared with top documentary channels
  • License checked for every picture, with credits written for you
  • Misheard names corrected in captions and on-screen labels
WHY CUTAWAY

Built around the problems creators report with AI video tools

We read reviews and forum posts from creators who use one-click video generators. These are the problems they raise most often, and how Cutaway handles each one.

Footage that does not match the script

Each shot is checked against its line and its period before rendering. When nothing fits, the agent asks you instead of guessing.

Copyright risk left to the creator

Every clip and picture is listed with its source and license, and the credits are written into your video description.

No way to try before paying

We edit the first 15 minutes of your first video for free. No credit card is required.

Paying again to fix one shot

You review and swap shots on the storyboard before anything is rendered, so corrections cost nothing.

Hard to cancel, no refunds

Cancel at any time. If you are not satisfied with your first paid edit, we refund it.

Frequently asked questions

Is it only for history channels?

No. It works for any video that is narration over pictures, including science, true crime, business, geography and video essays. We started with history, so its picture sources are the most thoroughly tested.

Do I have to record first?

No. Paste your script and the agent creates a storyboard. You can record once you are satisfied with the pictures.

Which languages are supported?

Currently, only English voiceovers are supported. The website and workspace are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Chinese.

Can I use my own pictures?

Yes. Upload them on any line of the storyboard, or send them with your voiceover.

How do you handle copyright?

We use only public-domain, CC0 and Creative Commons pictures and video clips, plus any files you upload. Each one is listed with its license, and we write the credits your video description needs.

How is Cutaway different from one-click video generators?

Cutaway shows you a storyboard before anything is rendered. Each shot is checked against its line, and every clip and picture is listed with its license, so problems are fixed before the video is made.

Can Cutaway write or narrate my script?

Not at the moment. You provide the narration. You can paste your script first and see the storyboard before you record.

What if I am not satisfied with the edit?

Tell the agent what to change. If you are not satisfied with your first edit, email us and we will refund your payment.
